About Senior Home Review
Why I built this
“I built this business after facilitating my father in finding his assisted living facility. The process allowed me to see some of the glaring issues in the category, which we hope to address by creating more transparency in senior living.”
What this is
Senior Home Review is an independent verification site for senior care — a public record of 76,547 licensed nursing homes, assisted living communities, memory care centers, adult care homes, and hospices across 55 states. Every facility page shows, free, what the government record shows: licensing, inspection citations, fines, ownership, staffing, and cost figures. Paid background reports add plain-English synthesis, court-record searches, and monitoring.
Who runs it
Senior Home Review is built and run by David Nelsen of Senior Home Review, LLC — not by a referral network, a facility chain, or a private-equity marketing group. There is no call center, and nobody here earns a commission when you choose a facility. Questions and corrections go straight to the operator via the contact page.
How we're funded — and how we're not
Revenue comes from one place: background reports that families order. No facility pays us for placement, ranking, ratings, or lead referrals — ever. Most “free” senior-care directories are funded by facilities paying for the calls they generate, which shapes what those sites will and won't show you. Our inspection records, fines, and ownership histories stay on the page precisely because no facility is a customer.
Where the data comes from
Federal CMS datasets (provider records, per-citation inspection detail, penalties, ownership filings, cost reports), state licensing rosters, the federal NPI registry, and Google business profiles — each fact attributed on the page it appears on, each source documented on the data sources page with its refresh cadence, and the method described in our methodology. Regulatory data is structurally read-only here: no facility can edit its inspection history, and we never fabricate a data point. When we're wrong about a contact detail, every facility page carries a correction pathway — and corrections are reviewed by a person before anything changes.
What we won't do
No pay-for-placement. No deleting inspection records for a fee. No fake reviews, no invented ratings, no “sponsored” results dressed up as rankings. Facilities can contact us to correct factual errors — that costs nothing.
